Our Core Principle: TailorCV is built on a foundation of Privacy by Design. You own your career data. You control who sees it, what they see, and when. Our architecture enforces this structurally, not just through policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Account Information: Name and email address provided via LinkedIn or Google authentication, or entered manually. We do not import profile photos, contact lists, or social connections from third-party authentication providers.
• Profile Information: City and state/region (for general location context), professional headline, and contact preferences you choose to provide.
• Professional Information: Career accomplishments, work history, education, professional roles, and related career data you choose to enter.
• Organizational Information: If you administer an organization or provide professional services through our platform, you may provide organization details, role specifications, and team management data.
• Verification Data: Information related to peer and organizational verification of professional accomplishments.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, actions taken, and session information.
• Device Information: Browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and language preferences.
• Log Data: IP addresses, referring URLs, and system activity logs.

2.3 Information from Third Parties

When you authenticate via LinkedIn or Google, we receive your name and email address that you authorize during the sign-in process. We do not import profile photos, connections, activity, or other data from those platforms.

2.4 Information We Do Not Collect

For clarity, TailorCV does not collect profile photos or images (we do not import photos from authentication providers), precise location or GPS data (we store only city and state/region that you provide), social media connections, contact lists, or activity on third-party platforms, or financial information such as credit card numbers (payment processing, when applicable, is handled entirely by third-party payment processors).

3. Use of Artificial Intelligence

TailorCV uses artificial intelligence to enhance your experience. This includes suggesting how your professional information might be categorized, offering improvements to make your accomplishment descriptions clearer or more impactful, and processing unstructured job descriptions into structured formats for comparison purposes.

3.1 Third-Party AI Processing

When AI processing occurs through our third-party AI provider (Anthropic), only the specific text being analyzed is sent — never your complete career record. Anthropic processes data solely to return results to TailorCV and does not retain your content after processing.

3.2 Service Improvement and Model Training

Transparency Notice: TailorCV may use de-identified and aggregated professional data from the Service to train and improve our own classification and recommendation systems. This helps us provide better categorization suggestions and more accurate career insights for all users. Specifically:

• We may use de-identified accomplishment data and associated categorizations to improve the accuracy of our suggestion algorithms.
• Verified professional data contributes to improving classification quality across the platform, benefiting all users.
• De-identification: Before any data is used for model training, it is stripped of personally identifiable information including names, email addresses, and specific organizational affiliations. The training data consists of professional text patterns and their categorizations, not individual career records.
• Opt-Out: You may opt out of having your de-identified data used for model improvement by contacting [email protected]. Opting out does not affect your use of the Service or the quality of suggestions you receive based on existing models.

4. How We Use Your Information

• Providing the Service: Operating your account, storing your professional information, generating documents, and enabling verification workflows.
• User-Controlled Sharing: Facilitating the sharing of your professional information with organizations and individuals you choose, under access levels you control.
• Service Improvement: Improving our classification systems, suggestion algorithms, and overall Service quality using de-identified and aggregated data as described in Section 3.2.
• Communications: Sending transactional emails such as verification requests and account updates. We will not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.
• Analytics: Understanding how the Service is used to improve features and develop new functionality.
• Security: Detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
• Legal Compliance: Meeting our obligations under applicable laws.

5. Your Privacy Controls

TailorCV gives you granular control over your professional data. Your complete career record is private by default. You create separate views of your information for different audiences, choosing exactly what to include in each. You control the level of access organizations have to your information, ranging from minimal aggregate visibility to detailed sharing that you initiate and can revoke at any time. No employer, recruiter, or other user can access your complete record. They see only what you explicitly choose to share.

6. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information only in the following circumstances:

• With Your Authorization: When you choose to share your professional information with an organization, peer, or service provider through the platform’s sharing features.
• For Verification: When you request verification of an accomplishment, the relevant accomplishment text is shared with the verifier you select.
• Service Providers: We use third-party providers who process data on our behalf under contractual obligations:

• Legal Requirements: When required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of TailorCV, our users, or the public.
• Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with prior notice to you.

7. Data Retention

• Account Data: Retained while your account is active. Upon deletion, we remove or anonymize your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
• Professional Information: Retained as long as your account exists. You may delete individual entries at any time.
• De-Identified Training Data: Data that has been de-identified for model training purposes (as described in Section 3.2) may be retained after account deletion, as it cannot be linked to any individual.
• Aggregate Data: De-identified, aggregate data that cannot identify individuals may be retained indefinitely.
• Log Data: Retained for up to 90 days for security and troubleshooting.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, regular security assessments, and secure authentication through established identity providers. No system can guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to industry-standard protections.

9. Your Rights

9.1 All Users

You have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data, export your data in portable formats, control what you share and with whom, opt out of de-identified data being used for model training (see Section 3.2), and opt out of non-essential communications.

9.2 European Economic Area (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA, you additionally have rights to data portability, restriction of processing, objection to processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our legal bases for processing include performance of contract (providing the Service), legitimate interests (security, analytics, service improvement including model training), consent (optional features, marketing), and legal obligation.

9.3 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete, the right to opt-out of sale (we do not sell personal information), the right to non-discrimination, and the right to correct inaccurate information. 9.4 Other Jurisdictions

We comply with applicable privacy laws where we operate, including CalOPPA, PIPEDA (Canada), and other applicable regulations.

10. Age Requirements and Data Minimization

Minimum Age: TailorCV is available to users aged 13 and older. We believe in building healthy professional habits early, and our Service may be used by students in educational settings. The following data practices apply to all users, regardless of age:

• We collect minimal personal information: name, email, city/state, and professional information the user chooses to enter. Users may optionally include social media links in their profile tagline, but this is entirely voluntary and never required.
• We do not collect or import photos, precise location data, or social media connections from any source. We do not require or solicit social media account information.
• We do not display advertising or engage in behavioral targeting for any user.

Users Ages 13 to 16: Parental or guardian consent may be required depending on the user’s jurisdiction and applicable law. Educational institutions using TailorCV for students under 16 are responsible for obtaining appropriate parental consent.

Users Under 13: TailorCV does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact [email protected] and we will promptly delete the account and associated data.

11. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies required for the Service to function (authentication and session management). We use privacy-focused analytics that do not rely on cookies or collect personal data. We may use feature flagging tools to improve the user experience. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or engage in cross-site tracking.

12. International Data Transfers

TailorCV is hosted in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States with appropriate safeguards in compliance with applicable data protection laws.
