Mission

Conduct product analyses and support decision-making

Tour of Duty

Own analytics for a product feature and drive measurable improvements

About This Job Family

People in this job family turn data into decisions. They build dashboards, run analyses, and surface the insights that drive strategy. Whether it's identifying why revenue dropped or predicting which customers will churn, they translate numbers into narratives that move the business.

What You'll Do

Product Analysts decode user behavior to guide product decisions. They translate billions of events into actionable insights about feature adoption, user journeys, and product-market fit. Their work directly influences roadmap priorities and helps product teams understand not just what users do, but why.

  • Analyze user behavior to inform product decisions
  • Build dashboards tracking feature adoption and engagement
  • Define and validate product success metrics
  • Collaborate with PMs on hypothesis testing
  • Create analysis reports for product teams
  • Support A/B test design and analysis

Every responsibility is an accomplishment waiting to happen. The question is: will you own the outcome, or just do the task?

AI as an Accelerator

AI isn't a skill we call out. It's invisible in the accomplishment but easily visible in the velocity and scale of your outcomes. Here's how people in this role are accelerating their work with AI:

  • Building behavior dashboards
  • Analyzing feature adoption
  • Creating segment reports

Your Career Record

**Your Career Record. Your Portable Proof.**

Log accomplishments as you go — not skills you claim, but work you've shipped. When you're ready for your next chapter, TailorCV turns your track record into a promotion case or tailored resume.

Your career story. Your control.

The Competencies That Matter

Skills fill your toolbox. Competencies are how you wield them. Three matter most at this level:

1. ANALYTICS & BI (2) Strong Analytics & BI skills required at this level.

2. PRODUCT MANAGEMENT (2) Strong Product Management skills required at this level.

3. DESIGN & UX (1) Strong Design & UX skills required at this level.

The radar shows the full picture. These three are where you need to be undeniable.

Your Journey From Here

Going up? Your next Tour of Duty:

→ Senior Product Analyst - Product Analytics (L3) "Lead analytics for a product area and establish success metrics"

The L2 → L3 gap is about OWNERSHIP: • From executing tasks → owning outcomes • From writing code → designing systems • From asking questions → answering them

These are your stretch accomplishments. Start doing L3 work now. When you can prove it with accomplishments, you're ready.

Going sideways? That's valid too.

Up isn't the only direction. It's your career. You own it.
