Own executive social media and short-form content production

Tour of Duty

Own an executive thought leadership article from research to publication

About This Job Family

People in this job family own the corporate narrative—shaping how the company is perceived by investors, analysts, employees, regulators, and the public. From earnings calls and press releases to internal town halls and executive speeches, they craft messaging that builds trust, manages reputation, and aligns stakeholders. Great corporate communications turns complex stories into clear signals.

What You'll Do

Executive communications professionals craft the voice of the C-suite—writing keynote speeches, thought leadership articles, board presentations, and CEO messages that shape how leadership is perceived internally and externally. They turn executive vision into compelling narrative.

  • Own executive social media content calendar and posting schedule
  • Draft executive blog posts and short thought leadership pieces independently
  • Execute research for keynote speeches and conference presentations
  • Implement systematic approaches to executive content planning
  • Debug tone and messaging inconsistencies across executive platforms
  • Prepare executive event briefing packages and talking points

Every responsibility is an accomplishment waiting to happen. The question is: will you own the outcome, or just do the task?

AI as an Accelerator

AI isn't a skill we call out. It's invisible in the accomplishment but easily visible in the velocity and scale of your outcomes. Here's how people in this role are accelerating their work with AI:

  • Analyzing executive content engagement and audience response
  • Generating thought leadership article drafts and outlines
  • Building conference and event briefing packages

Your Career Record

**Your Career Record. Your Portable Proof.**

Log accomplishments as you go — not skills you claim, but work you've shipped. When you're ready for your next chapter, TailorCV turns your track record into a promotion case or tailored resume.

Your career story. Your control.

The Competencies That Matter

Skills fill your toolbox. Competencies are how you wield them. Three matter most at this level:

1. CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS (2) Strong Corporate Communications skills required at this level.

2. STRATEGY (2) Strong Strategy skills required at this level.

3. HUMAN RESOURCES (1) Strong Human Resources skills required at this level.

The radar shows the full picture. These three are where you need to be undeniable.

Your Journey From Here

Going up? Your next Tour of Duty:

→ Senior Executive Communications Specialist - Executive Communications (L3) "Write a keynote speech that an executive delivers at a major conference"

The L2 → L3 gap is about OWNERSHIP: • From executing tasks → owning outcomes • From writing code → designing systems • From asking questions → answering them

These are your stretch accomplishments. Start doing L3 work now. When you can prove it with accomplishments, you're ready.

Going sideways? That's valid too.

Up isn't the only direction. It's your career. You own it.
