About This Job Family

People in this job family create awareness, generate demand, and shape how the market perceives the company. From brand to demand gen to product marketing, they tell the story that attracts customers and differentiates from competitors.

What You'll Do

Communications and PR professionals shape public perception through media relations, executive communications, and crisis management. They build relationships with journalists, craft narratives, and protect reputation. Success means positive media coverage, strong executive presence, and effective crisis response.

  • Learn communications fundamentals and media landscape
  • Support press release and media material creation
  • Assist with media list building and outreach
  • Monitor media coverage and compile reports
  • Build knowledge of journalist relationships
  • Participate in communications planning meetings

Every responsibility is an accomplishment waiting to happen. The question is: will you own the outcome, or just do the task?

AI as an Accelerator

AI isn't a skill we call out. It's invisible in the accomplishment but easily visible in the velocity and scale of your outcomes. Here's how people in this role are accelerating their work with AI:

  • Drafting press materials
  • Researching media opportunities
  • Creating media lists

Your Career Record

**Your Career Record. Your Portable Proof.**

Log accomplishments as you go — not skills you claim, but work you've shipped. When you're ready for your next chapter, TailorCV turns your track record into a promotion case or tailored resume.

Your career story. Your control.

The Competencies That Matter

Skills fill your toolbox. Competencies are how you wield them. Three matter most at this level:

1. LEGAL & COMPLIANCE (2) Strong Legal & Compliance skills required at this level.

2. MARKETING (2) Strong Marketing skills required at this level.

3. STRATEGY (1) Strong Strategy skills required at this level.

The radar shows the full picture. These three are where you need to be undeniable.

Your Journey From Here

Going up? Your next Tour of Duty:

→ Junior Communications Specialist - Communications PR (L2) "Secure media coverage that builds awareness"

The L1 → L2 gap is about OWNERSHIP: • From executing tasks → owning outcomes • From writing code → designing systems • From asking questions → answering them

These are your stretch accomplishments. Start doing L2 work now. When you can prove it with accomplishments, you're ready.

Going sideways? That's valid too.

Up isn't the only direction. It's your career. You own it.
